Great British Bake Off sends home another contestant leaving viewers "gutted"

Translate

The Great British Bake Off sent home another hopeful on Tuesday (13 October) evening as the latest batch of contestants tackled Bread Week.

The latest episode of the hit Channel 4 show, which is hosted by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, saw the group try their best to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson with their savoury baking skills.

Sadly one contestant had to leave the tent, and this time it was Molly who went home.

Speaking about her fate, Molly said: "I'm sad to be leaving the tent but it think it's my time, it's the right decision. I wanted to do Biscuit Week and Bread Week, and I got to do both. It's been a really wonderful experience and I'm really proud of myself."

Nigella was quick to compliment Molly and told her: "You have shown us some beautiful bakes."

Meanwhile, Tom was awarded Star Baker for the second time in the competition after impressing Paul and Nigella in the Showstopper challenge.

"I can't believe that just happened!" he said, before joking that he'd have to go home and change his recipes due to expectations now.

Viewers at home took to X to discuss the judges' decisions as one person said: "Actually gutted for Molly, so pleased for Tom though."

Another wrote: "Aww I'll miss Molly," while a third posted: "Gutted for Molly. At least her first challenge was edible."

A fourth person added: "To be fair on Molly there were several others who could legitimately have left the tent too this week!"

During this week's episode, it was revealed that Nikki had been forced to leave the tent early for family reasons. However, Paul still felt it was right to send a contestant home due to the standards in Bread Week.

Next week the hopefuls will tackle Dessert Week.

The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays on Channel 4 at 8pm.
