Geordie Greep Shows Cancelled Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Translate

Several performances on Geordie Greep’s US tour have been cancelled following allegations of sexual misconduct made against the singer, which he has denied. As of October 10, the former Black Midi frontman’s sets in Boise, Salt Lake City, Boulder, Denver, and Omaha, have either been listed as cancelled on each venue’s website or no longer appear. One remaining US performance, in Des Moines, is still scheduled to take place, as is a brief November run in Europe. Greep has not released a statement on the cancellations. Pitchfork has reached out to his reps for comment.

The cancellations arrive after allegations were made against Greep at a show in Vancouver on October 8, where an attendee handed out flyers claiming the singer committed an act of sexual misconduct. Greep later addressed the allegations on stage. “So essentially what happened last night, me and some of the band, we went out to some bars, we went around, we met people, and ended up in a situation where, really late at a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone that was there, and I made a move, and it didn’t come off and I really quickly, of course, apologized,” he told the crowd. “It was a complete misunderstanding on my part, and I felt extremely bad, and I feel extremely sorry, and am extremely upset about the whole situation. I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. It’s not how that went down.” He added that he would perform the show solo in order not to force the band to play “in light of [what was] happening,” and that proceeds from the gig would benefit an organization that supports victims of sexual violence.
