Asian Games 2026: Quimcy Dsouza loses in Teqball semifinal

India’s Quimcy Dsouza lost to Indonesia’s Sumaya in the Asian Games 2026 women’s singles semifinals in Teqball at Nagoya City Higashi Sports Centre in Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday.

Sumaya entered the final with a three-set win (7-12, 12-9, 21-7) to guarantee herself at least a silver medal in Teqball, a sport making its Asiad debut. She will now face Myanmar’s Khin Hnin Wai in the final on Sunday.

In the opening set, Quimcy got off to a quick start, racing to an 8-2 lead. Sumaya managed to drag it back, but couldn’t prevent the Indian from going ahead in their last-four clash.

Sumaya shook off the setback and took control of the second set as she established an early advantage. Quimcy, though, closed in at the midway point, levelling the set at 6-6 and then at 8-8. But, the Indonesian pulled clear at the end to level the tie.

Quimcy has one more shot at winning a historic medal for India, when she faces Cambodia’s Koemyean Dy in the bronze-medal match on Sunday.
