Little Britain Pub in Waterkloof, Pretoria has announced an immediate ban on motorcycle club patches, following a shooting outside the venue on Saturday, when one man was killed and another wounded.
SAPS spokesperson, Captain Johan van Dyk, said police arrived to find the survivor with a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest and that he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“Inside the pub, near the entrance, police found a 55-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the middle of his chest. He was declared deceased at the scene,” Van Dyk added.
According to the police, an argument allegedly broke out between the shooter and the injured man, during which the former drew a firearm and shot the latter before fleeing the scene on a motorbike. The alleged shooter was later tracked down and arrested, and his firearm was seized.
“Preliminary information indicates that only one shot was fired, and one cartridge was recovered at the scene. It is further suspected that the bullet passed through and injured a victim before killing the deceased. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation,” Van Dyk said.

“No other persons were injured in the incident. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the man who lost his life. Our thoughts are also with the injured man and his loved ones, and we sincerely hope for his full recovery”.
Little Britain Pub said it had always been motorbike-friendly and would remain so, despite the new restriction.
“We value the biking community and the support and friendships built over the years. However, we regret to announce that, with immediate effect, motorcycle club patches will no longer be permitted on our premises.

“We ask for your understanding and cooperation, and for compassion and respect for those affected by this tragedy,” the statement read.
