Asian Para Games 2026 Closing Ceremony Live Updates: India signed off from the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya with a landmark performance, finishing fourth in the final medal standings for their best-ever result at the continental para-sports event. The Indian contingent collected a record 114 medals, including 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze, improving on its previous best of 108 medals at the 2022 edition in Hangzhou.

The final-day competition kept India’s position under scrutiny, with South Korea hoping to close the gap and move ahead in the standings. South Korea won three more medals on Saturday but managed only one gold, finishing with 29 gold medals and 100 medals overall. That ensured India held on to fourth place, with Iran finishing sixth.

China topped the medal table by a substantial margin, collecting 435 medals, including 217 gold. Hosts Japan finished second with 186 medals, comprising 64 gold, 60 silver and 62 bronze, while Uzbekistan claimed third place with 145 medals, including 45 gold. South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia completed the top 10.

India’s campaign was marked by record-breaking performances, historic victories and podium sweeps across multiple disciplines. Athletics played a major role in the medal rush, while badminton, archery and shooting also contributed significantly to the overall tally.

The achievement stands out because India competed with a contingent of 168 para-athletes, substantially smaller than the 309 athletes who represented the country in Hangzhou. The record medal haul and fourth-place finish provide a new benchmark for Indian para-sports as the Aichi-Nagoya Games conclude with the Closing Ceremony.
