Haze: Batu Pahat records very unhealthy API reading

KUALA LUMPUR: Batu Pahat, Johor recorded a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 208 as at 9.50pm today, while 30 other areas nationwide recorded unhealthy readings.

Based on the latest data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Nilai, Negri Sembilan recorded the second-highest reading at 179, followed by Seremban at 175.

Segamat and Johan Setia recorded readings of 174, followed by Tangkak (173), Putrajaya (171), and Cheras, Shah Alam and Pasir Gudang, which each recorded 170.

Batu Muda and Bandaraya Melaka recorded readings of 167, while Banting, Petaling Jaya, Kluang and Larkin each recorded 164.

Bukit Rambai recorded 163, followed by Alor Gajah and Pengerang at 162, while Klang, Kota Tinggi and Jerantut recorded 161.

Port Dickson and Indera Mahkota recorded readings of 159, followed by Paka (158), Temerloh, Balok Baru and Kemaman (156), Tanjung Malim (154), Rompin (153) and the Serian district police headquarters in Sarawak (139).

Meanwhile, 32 other areas were classified as having moderate air quality, while five areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is classified as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy and readings above 300 as hazardous.
