Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with Libyan Acting Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Al-Sadiq at the newly established premises of the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of expediting the implementation of joint projects, including the construction and connection of gas pipelines between the two countries and expanding cooperation in petroleum products.

He also called for swiftly completing projects to refine Libyan crude oil in Egypt for re-export, rehabilitating Libyan refineries and finalizing electricity interconnection projects between the two countries as soon as possible.

For his part, Al Sadiq expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in technical fields related to energy, outlining current technical cooperation in oil, gas and electricity.

He affirmed Libya’s commitment to continuing the implementation of ongoing joint projects and announced plans to visit Cairo soon to continue discussions on technical cooperation with Egypt’s ministers of petroleum and electricity.
