Ray LaMontagne Collapses Onstage in Nashville, Treated for Heat-Related Dehydration

Ray LaMontagne collapsed onstage during his concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Saturday night, bringing the show to an early close. His management later said the singer-songwriter was being treated for heat-related dehydration and is “doing well now.”

Fan-shot footage from the September 5th performance shows LaMontagne sink to the stage during the latter portion of his set before people nearby quickly moved in to assist him. The incident occurred while he was performing his song “Jolene.” LaMontagne was then helped from the stage and the concert ended early.

Earlier in the set, LaMontagne twice stopped during “Hannah” after apparently losing his place, then apologized to the crowd before moving on. A short time later, he briefly left the stage before returning to begin “Jolene.” Following the show, several concertgoers also described the Ryman online as unusually hot that evening.

LaMontagne’s team later shared an update through his Instagram Story about what happened. “Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight’s show at the Ryman,” management wrote. “Ray is in good hands with the local EMS and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding.”

The statement added that LaMontagne “is looking forward to being onstage in Louisville tomorrow night.” He is currently scheduled to perform at the Louisville Palace on Sunday, September 6th, as part of his “Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour.”

The Nashville concert was the second of two nights at the Ryman on LaMontagne’s rescheduled anniversary tour, which finds him performing Trouble in full alongside material from across his catalog. The Weather Station are serving as support on the run.
