Coronation Street bosses turned down Sally Dynevor's daughter Hattie after secret audition

Hattie Dynevor failed to land a role after auditioning for Coronation Street, despite her mum Sally having played Sally Metcalfe (nee Webster) on the soap for four decades.
Hattie, whose sister Phoebe starred as Daphne in the first season of Netflix's Bridgerton, responded to the label of "nepo baby" – frequently applied to those in arts with celebrity parents – in an interview with The Sun.
"Me and Phoebe have always had that comment 'nepo baby'," the actor said. "Everyone's so quick to say that, but like my mum always said, if she could get herself in a Netflix show, she'd be doing that.

"She can't do anything to help us really. Maybe she could get us a foot in the door, but ultimately, I have to do the work and I have to put the time in – it's down to me."
To underline her point, she added: "I would never rule it out – I actually auditioned for Corrie, but I didn't get it. 'Imagine if Sally fostered a child and then it was her actual child.'"
Both Hattie and Phoebe Dynevor started their careers with roles in the BBC's Waterloo Road, Hattie as Libby Gutherie and Phoebe as Siobhan Mailey.
Hattie has since starred in the Netflix thriller Legends, which debuted its first season in May.
Starring Tom Burke, Steve Coogan, Hayley Squires, and Aml Ameen, it dramatises the real efforts of customs investigators in the early 1990s to infiltrate Britain's most prolific drug smuggling rings.
Dynevor features in the role of Arabella in the first episode of season one.

Legends, already a hit with critics and audiences, has been renewed for a second season.
Phoebe Dynevor, meanwhile, stars across from Jake Gyllenhaal and Ashley Walters in the upcoming thriller Remain, directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
Gyllenhaal stars as an architect suffering from depression who moves to Cape Cod, only to encounter Dynevor's mysterious woman.
Shyamalan devised the story alongside The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, who separately wrote and published his own version of the concept as a book released in 2025.
The film, having premiered at Beyond Fest, has already received strong positive reactions, with @pierogiwitch on X calling it a "masterpiece" and "a perfect companion to the sixth sense for a double feature and a moving, frightening, and beautiful film on its own".
