‘Séance’: Vivian Kerr Victorian Gothic Thriller Conjures Fall Theatrical Release – Watch Clips

EXCLUSIVE: The Vivian Kerr directed and starring Victorian Gothic thriller Séance will begin a limited U.S. theatrical release on Oct. 2, followed by a North American VOD release Friday Nov. 13.

Also written and produced by Kerr, Séance will open with a one-week run at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles, before widening to dates in San Francisco, Phoenix, Houston, Palm Springs, and Sedona, with more cities to be announced. Rue Dangeau will release Séance on North American VOD platforms.

Also starring Scottie Thompson (NCIS), Jilon VanOver (Hatfields & McCoys) and Connor Paolo (Gossip Girl), Séance is an intense four-hander set over the course of one night, as two couples confront the deficits in their marriages, the temptation of adultery, and the disturbing possibility their house is haunted by a recently deceased loved one. The feature is inspired by the August Strindberg play Creditors.

The movie was shot in Los Angeles with cinematography by Johanna Coelho (HBO Max’s The Pitt), costume design by Nina Fuller, and production design by Bri Jones.

Pic was also produced by Makenna Tuttle, Savannah Lindblad, Marion Kerr, and Rachel Stander, with Sanatan Kadakia and Suresh Cedrick Pereira serving as EPs.

The film currently holds 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes off 22 reviews.

Séance marks Kerr’s second feature as a writer-director following Scrap which starred Anthony Rapp and Lana Parrilla. That pic world premiered at the Deauville American Film Festival and went on to play 44 festivals worldwide before its December 2025 release.

Through her production and distribution company Rue Dangeau, Kerr is also coming off the 2026 Sundance world premiere of independent pilot, Soft Boil, which she produced and stars in. Directed by Alec Goldberg and starring Camille Wormser, the pilot went on to screen at Slamdance, SeriesFest, Just for Laughs, and Cinequest, winning audience awards at both SeriesFest and Just for Laughs.
