Nana Patekar’s death on October 8 has stunned the film industry, and few are as shaken as Subhash Kale, co-producer of his upcoming crime thriller ‘The Confession’. Kale says he had spoken to the veteran actor only two days earlier, when Nana confirmed he would come to Mumbai for dubbing.

Subhash Kale on hearing the news

Talking to ANI, Subhash Kale said he was left numb by the news. He said, "It is a very big loss, and it is unbelievable… unbelievable. I found out at around 7:30 this morning, as soon as I woke up, and I was completely shaken when I heard the news. Then, to confirm it, I immediately called Malhar, and it was confirmed. It is a huge grief, a very big loss for the industry. A very big loss! So sudden."

Nana Patekar’s plans for ‘The Confession’ and a Mumbai shoot

Kale shared that Nana was supposed to travel to Mumbai tomorrow to finish a small dubbing task for the film.

The actor also had another shoot lined up in the city. Subhash Kale said, "Yes, The Confession, which is set to release. We had spoken just the day before yesterday about the dubbing. There was one line that he had to dub. He told me, ‘I am coming to Bombay.’ He was supposed to come to Bombay tomorrow, and he also had a shoot scheduled in Bombay for a film.

So he told me, ‘I’ll come tomorrow, and we’ll do that one line.’… Whenever he came to Mumbai, the first call would be to me: ‘I am coming to the studio.’ We would sit together, have a lot of fun, joke around, sing songs… He was just incredible. What can I say now? I am unable to speak at this moment. I have to leave for Goa now, so…"

What the doctor told ANI

Nana died at the age of 75, leaving a deep void in cinema. A doctor told ANI that the actor was already dead when he was brought to the hospital. Still, the medical team tried to revive him for nearly an hour. The doctor shared, "Nana Patekar was brought dead to the hospital around 4:30, and he was declared dead by 5:30. We tried our best to save him, but he was brought dead. Cardiac massage was given for 45 minutes to 1 hour, but he just couldn’t be saved.

"His last films are 'The Confessions' and 'Shakti Shalini'. The movies are yet to be released.
