Pat Sajak makes rare public appearance after stepping away from 'Wheel of Fortune'

Former "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak was spotted out in Los Angeles during a rare public appearance.
The 79-year-old former game show host was photographed on Hollywood Boulevard as one of the attendees honoring Air Supply's Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock as they got their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He looked dapper in a gray suit with a pink shirt underneath, as he took photos with the musicians and gave a speech in their honor during the ceremony.
During his speech, Sajak joked with the crowd that he knows a thing or two about "longevity," as he "did my little show for over 40 years."

"I understand the challenge of trying not to wear out your welcome," he added. "But Graham and Russell have been at this for over 50 years, and they continue to entertain their fans and be welcomed by sold-out crowds all around the world."
He then joked that he "had planned to get a large Air Supply logo" tattooed on his chest, but thought that it would pull focus from his nipple ring, so he changed his mind, telling the audience, "I’ll pause a moment while you poke out your mind’s eye."

Sajak honed his comic skills as the host of "Wheel of Fortune" and later "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune" for 41 years before retiring in 2024 and passing the torch to Ryan Seacrest.
Following his retirement from the game show, Sajak announced his starring role in the play "Prescription: Murder," which ran from July 31 to Aug. 10, 2025, at The Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He gave his fans an update from Hawaii in June, posting a video of himself walking poolside with Palm Trees and the ocean behind him, letting viewers know he is doing great.
"Hi! I know a lot of you have been wondering, asking me how I’m doing, and I’m enjoying life. I moved here to Montana, and everything is going just great," he joked. "So, I just want to say hello. You’ll have to excuse me, I have some cattle to attend to."
While Sajak is best known for hosting "Wheel of Fortune," he shared in an Instagram video in June 2024 that he almost turned down the opportunity to host the show when it was first offered to him.

Sajak took over hosting duties from Chuck Woolery, who left the game show in 1981. Sajak hosted the daytime version of the show from 1981 to 1989, while also hosting the nighttime version of the show, which fans associate him with, starting in 1983.

"When you work in L.A., in local TV, in a way you're auditioning every night, because the producers are sitting at home watching TV in their underwear like everybody else," Sajak joked.
"Anyway, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ had been on the air for seven years in daytime on NBC, and the host was leaving, and they needed a new host, and he asked if I was interested. And I swear, the first thought was ‘Yes there are three R’s' is not exactly a career mover. Yeah, I know, shows you what I know."
