Police probe viral video of man allegedly assaulting woman in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: Police have opened an investigation paper following a video that went viral on social media showing a man allegedly assaulting a woman at Felda Kledang, Gugusan Adela.

District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said they detected the video after it was uploaded by Facebook user 'Sam Lim' at 9.30am today.

He said the 44-second video showed a man pushing and kicking a woman.

"A police report was lodged by a local woman, who was also the person who recorded the incident.

"Following this, an investigation paper was opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

"Investigations are also being conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said in a statement today.

Those with information about the incident are urged to come forward and cooperate with police to assist in completing the investigation.

In the video, the man was also seen shouting at the woman and hurling profanities while assaulting her.

Several people, believed to be family members, were seen attempting to stop and calm him down.
