Prime Video's upcoming Vikings drama, Bloodaxe, has bulked up its cast with a major House of the Dragon star.
It was announced in early 2025 that Vikings creator Michael Hirst set out to return to the stories he helped revive with Bloodaxe, which will center on one of history’s most famous Viking warriors alongside his formidable wife. The project, from MGM Television, is unrelated to the Vikings franchise despite the shared genre and themes.
Prime Video has confirmed that Bloodaxe has added House of the Dragon actor Kieran Bew to the cast alongside Gard Løkke (Home for Christmas, The Trip to the Northern Lights), Melina Åkerman (Succedera Questa Notte, Granite Harbour), and George Burgess (Beast, Spartacus: House of Ashur). Additionally, Bloodaxe season 2 has started filming in Ireland ahead of the show's season 1 premiere in early 2027.
