Father charged with murdering baby boy

Police have charged a man with murder after the death of his three-month-old boy near Brisbane.

Officers began investigating on October 1 after the baby was taken to an Ipswich hospital with significant internal injuries.

The boy was later transferred to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

Overnight, detectives from the Ipswich child protection investigation unit, with assistance from the child trauma unit, arrested a 28-year-old father at an Ipswich property.

The man was charged with one count of murder – domestic violence against a child.

He was due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Investigations were continuing.
