'Spider-Man' extends theatrical run to Nov 16; OTT release delayed

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' starring Tom Holland in the lead, is reportedly set to extend its theatrical run through November 16, following its record-breaking box-office performance.

The film, which opened internationally on July 31, has grossed approximately USD 938 million in North America and around USD 2.45 billion worldwide, according to box-office tracking data.

It overtook 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' this week, to become the highest-grossing film in North American box-office history.According to the latest reports, Sony Pictures and exhibitors have agreed to extend the film’s exclusive theatrical window until November 16. If confirmed, the film would have a run of around 108 days in cinemas, making it the longest-running 'Spider-Man' film in theatres. The extended theatrical run is reportedly being considered as the film continues to generate box office income, despite having been in theatres for several weeks.The reported extension could also affect digital release plans that had previously listed a November 17 as the film's OTT release date. However, the studio has not publicly confirmed the November 16 end date or any changes to the film’s home-entertainment release schedule.

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' OTT release

The film is expected to eventually stream on Netflix under Sony Pictures’ pay-one agreement with the platform. However, its streaming premiere date has not been officially announced.

Based on a report cited by What’s on Netflix, the film could potentially arrive around November 28, 2026. If Sony extends its theatrical run, the OTT release could be delayed until December 2026 or even January 2027.
