Maxim, Apad donations boost patient comfort, mobility at hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Azizah Hospital has received a welcome boost to patient comfort and mobility from Maxim Malaysia, in collaboration with the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad).
The e-hailing platform donated 15 waiting-area benches and 15 wheelchairs to the medical facility in the capital, intended to ease its daily operations.
At the handover ceremony recently, which brought together representatives from the private sector, state regulators and the hospital administration, head of Maxim Kuala Lumpur Syed Abdul Syarif Syed Peiaru thanked Apad and the hospital for the chance to collaborate on the initiative.
"The 15 benches and 15 wheelchairs handed over today are practical assistance that we hope will make the stay of patients and their families at the hospital more comfortable," he said.
"For us, it is important that even a small contribution can bring real benefit if it is backed by a sincere desire to help.
"We believe that such steps gradually foster a more caring and attentive environment around us."
The donated benches are intended to provide more comfort to patients and companions waiting for appointments, while the new wheelchairs will significantly ease the transport of patients with reduced mobility between departments.

Both are particularly vital for the hospital, which is a large inpatient facility that sees high visitor traffic.
After the presentation of the donated items, hospital representatives expressed gratitude to Maxim for its contribution to the development of social infrastructure.
The initiative by Maxim is in line with the call by Apad, the regulatory agency for e-hailing services in Malaysia, which emphasises the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in contributing to community well-being beyond their core activities.
The initiative also aims to inspire more companies to take similar steps and strengthen the social support network for public institutions across the country.
The event is part of Maxim Malaysia's ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, which covers regions across the country and focuses on the practical needs of local communities.
In recent years, the company has implemented dozens of CSR initiatives aimed at improving conditions in public spaces and supporting education and healthcare.
Tunku Azizah Hospital was chosen this time due to its heavy patient load and the need for additional equipment to enhance visitor comfort.
