Coronation Street reveals sad update on Bethany and Ryan's romance in early ITVX episode

Translate

Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday's episode (23 October), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn't aired on ITV1 yet.

Coronation Street's Ryan Connor expresses fears that his romance with Bethany Platt is all over in tonight's episode.

Ryan finds himself confiding in Bethany's mum Sarah – complaining that he's been "ghosted" for the past two weeks.

A few weeks ago, Ryan and Bethany were getting along brilliantly and looked set to strike up something special.

However, after Bethany discovered that she's expecting Kit Green's baby following a one-night stand, she decided to put some distance between her and Ryan until she'd worked things out.

In tonight's episode, Ryan and Sarah talk at the Chariot Square Hotel, and the conversation turns to Bethany.

With Sarah keen to know how things are going, Ryan moans: "She's kind of ghosting me a bit. Who doesn't have time to respond to a text? It's a text – it's 20 seconds, isn't it?"

Sarah is quick to reassure Ryan that he hasn't done anything wrong and should speak to Bethany if he wants some answers. Will Ryan take her advice?

Earlier this week, Bethany told Sarah about her pregnancy but let her believe that Ryan is the father. She also explained that she didn't plan to keep the baby.

Speaking recently about the messy story, Lucy Fallon – who plays Bethany – explained: "She genuinely really likes [Ryan] and he genuinely really likes her too. They've got a bit of shared history as well from when they were together before, but obviously this is going to throw a massive spanner in the works.

"If she chooses to go through with the termination, that will make things easier for their relationship. But if she chooses to keep the baby, that's going to complicate the whole situation because is Ryan going to want to be with her if she's going to be having someone else's baby, when they're so early on in their relationship?"

She added: "I think she will fight for him in a sense, but you can't really try to convince someone to stay with you if you're having a baby that's not theirs, especially when you're so early on in a relationship.

"It's quite an unusual position to find yourself in, so I feel like she's not going to push him. I think she'd prefer to let him make up his own mind, if she decides she can even keep this baby."

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
