Cape Town roads affected by service delivery demonstrations on Friday morning have been reopened, and the crowd of protesters has been dispersed.
Public Order Police and Flying Squad members were deployed to the N2 near Mew Way and the R300 next to Driftsands, two major roads in the city, which about 500 people blocked when they burnt tyres and protested.
The protest action caused significant disruption to commuters.
According to City of Cape Town Traffic, the N2 outbound was initially closed at Borcherds Quarry, while the inbound carriageway remained open.

On the R300, the southbound carriageway was closed at Hindle Road, while the northbound carriageway was closed at the N2.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes.
But by 06:26, Cape Town Traffic reported that both the inbound and outbound N2 had been reopened, although the R300 remained affected.
A further update at 07:41 confirmed that the R300 had been reopened in both directions.
The N2 and R300 are major commuter routes linking Cape Town’s southern and northern suburbs with areas including Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain and the Cape Flats.
Police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala said a public violence case would be opened for investigation.
