Bridgerton is returning, but with a twist.

Bridgerton began two decades before Netflix's globally successful series when author Julia Quinn published The Duke and I in 2000 and launched an eight-book romance novel series focusing on each of the Bridgerton siblings. In 2017, Shonda Rhimes signed a $150 million exclusive deal with Netflix, leading to her discovery of Quinn's addictive romance series, which led to bringing in longtime collaborator Chris Van Dusen to bring the Regency era back to life through the streaming giant.

One of the most beloved characters from Netflix's adaptation, Bridgerton, will be getting their time in the spotlight. Violet Bridgerton is officially getting a spinoff series focused on her younger years. Executive producer Rhimes will be co-writing and showrunning the romantic drama alongside Nicholas Nardini. The news comes after the first spinoff and Emmy Award-winning series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which Rhimes also created.
