Pas open to using BN logo in Melaka polls, says Hadi

MARANG: Pas is prepared to use the Barisan Nasional symbol in the Melaka election, says its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Abdul Hadi said discussions regarding cooperation and symbol usage with BN were ongoing, and the party was open to using its own logo or BN's depending on the outcome of talks.
"Pas has yet to decide, including on the number of seats and the choice of logo, as negotiations are still underway," he said after delivering a lecture at Masjid Rusila here today.
On Sept 23, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) confirmed that all activities of Perikatan Nasional were suspended under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832) with immediate effect, following a notice issued on Sept 22.
The suspension was to allow PN to provide a detailed explanation regarding a complaint lodged by Bersatu to the department, and was not a decision to deregister the coalition.
BN was reported to be discussing the potential use of its logo with Pas for the Melaka election.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said joint discussions would be finalised after talks with Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Asked to comment if BN chose to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan instead, Abdul Hadi, who is also the Marang member of parliament, said it was up to the coalition.
However, he stressed that the main priority was to ensure PH was defeated in the state polls.
"It is up to BN, but we will work to ensure PH loses in the Melaka election. What matters most is that Melaka is led by Malay and Muslim leadership," he said, adding that most of BN's leadership agreed to cooperate with Pas.
