KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Differing views or approaches among ministries do not necessarily reflect division within the government, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Instead, Anwar described such differences as part of healthy policy deliberations and discussions that take into account respective responsibilities, jurisdictions, and priorities to ensure the effective implementation of the Madani Government’s agenda.

He said the government systematically coordinates between ministries to align policies, prevent overlapping functions, and ensure every decision is made based on public interest, national development priorities, and the government’s financial capacity.

“To ensure effective governance, every government policy and decision must undergo proper deliberation and coordination.

“Matters requiring a collective decision will be tabled for Cabinet consideration and approval, in line with the principle of collective ministerial responsibility,” said Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister.

He said this in a written reply published on the Parliament website yesterday in response to a question from Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut).

Hamzah had asked about recent instances where the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development publicly issued conflicting positions on several issues.

Anwar gave an assurance that the government will continue to strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation, enhance policy implementation, and monitor initiative outcomes to ensure decisions translate into tangible and sustainable benefits for the people.

The Prime Minister added that the country’s economic performance is monitored continuously based on current indicators to assess policy effectiveness and strengthen economic resilience against global uncertainties. — Bernama
