2028 Olympic Qualifier: Super Falcons Thrash Comoros 5-0 To Reach Third Round
Nigeria’s Super Falcons booked their place into the third round of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualifier, after thrashing Comoros 5-0 in the second leg in Ikenne, on Tuesday.
The commanding win saw the Super Falcons reach the next round of the qualifier on a 7-0 aggregate win.
A brace from Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu and solitary strike from Christy Ucheibe secured the dominant win for the former African champions.
Gift Monday went close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute but failed to convert a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Five minutes later Uchenna Kanu hit a left-footed effort which came off the cross bar before Comoros keeper Aicha Said claimed the ball.
In the 29th minute the Super Falcons were forced to make a substitution as captain Rasheedat Ajibade went off injured and was replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi.
Kanu went close again on 39 minutes and for the second time in the game her effort crashed against the crossbar.

Following the restart the Super Falcons continued from where they stopped in the first half and were rewarded on 58 minutes thanks to Kanu who headed home Ijamilusi’s cross.
Three minutes later Kanu thought she had gotten the third goal but it was ruled out for offside.
In the 63rd minute Payne got her second goal to put the Super Falcons 3-0 off an assist from substitute Blessing Okpe, who dribbled past two Comoros defenders before squaring the ball for the scorer.
Just three minutes later the Super Falcons got their fourth as Kanu got her second after nodding home a cross from Ijamilusi.
The goals rush continued as Ucheibe made it 5-0 on 71 minutes from the penalty spot after Okpe was fouled inside the box.
