VisionQuest star Emily Hampshire on episode 6's "perfect" Diane Morgan reveal

Translate

VisionQuest star Emily Hampshire has hailed Diane Morgan's major scene in episode 6 as "perfect," as Marvel's latest series finally reveals the comedy icon's mysterious role.

Picking up after WandaVision and Agatha All Along, the Disney+ series stars Paul Bettany as ex-Avenger Vision, who goes on the run with 'father' Ultron (James Spader) and supposed son Tommy (Ruaridh Mollica).

Bounty hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) is hot on the trail, with Diane Morgan appearing as a handler who offers advice and commentary through his earpiece.

It would be fair to say that VisionQuest hasn't taken full advantage of Morgan's comedic abilities, as showcased in Cunk On..., Motherland and LOL: Last One Laughing, among other projects.

VisionQuest episode 6, which is streaming on Disney+ from today, goes some way to rectifying this as the 'handler' comes face-to-face with EDITH (Schitt's Creek alum Hampshire). Spoilers follow!

The reveal: Morgan's character is another AI, whose cramped and outdated 'office' is generated by a struggling server in Tajikistan.

Overly enthusiastic EDITH hacks her way in, and proceeds to give Paladin's unappreciated assistant some life advice, encouraging her to explore the world (wide web).

Morgan's character is convinced by the pitch, and her abandonment of Paladin is a major win for Team Vision. In an interview with Radio Times, Hampshire recalled filming the standout scene.

"I was so excited," she said. "I didn't know about her show [Cunk on..] until Terry [Matalas, VisionQuest creator] showed it to me.

"And then I just devoured it, which probably wasn't a good idea because I became obsessed with her before we shot it, so when she came onto set I was just too obsessed."

Hampshire added: "It's the perfect scene for both of us. I'd love to do more with her."

Filming on VisionQuest wrapped in July 2025, and just three months later Morgan commenced shooting her latest sitcom Ann Droid – which is also AI-themed.

The BBC hit stars Morgan as an android assistant named Linda, gifted to older widow Sue (played by Sue Johnston) by her son after her husband passes away.

Based on the events of episode 6, it seems unlikely that Morgan's VisionQuest bot will make any further appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – but we think Linda would make a fine addition to the Avengers roster.

VisionQuest is available to stream on Disney+. New episodes weekly. Sign-up to Disney+ from £5.99 a month.
