Kaizer Chiefs injury update: List of SIX injured players

Kaizer Chiefs’ injury problems have deepened, with midfielder Lebohang Maboe becoming the latest casualty.

The 32-year-old has been one of Amakhosi’s standout performers since joining the club in 2025, and his impressive form earned him a place in the latest Bafana Bafana squad.

However, Maboe’s international call-up was cut short after he suffered an ankle injury while playing for Kaizer Chiefs.

Bafana Bafana team doctor Dr Tshepo Molobi confirmed that Maboe arrived in camp on Sunday night before undergoing a scan on Monday.

“He twisted his ankle while playing for Kaizer Chiefs and after undergoing a scan, he will be ruled out from the current camp and this FIFA window,” Dr Molobi told SAFA’s official website.

Maboe now joins a growing list of injured Kaizer Chiefs players, with Wandile Duba, Paseka Mako, Nkhanyisa Shinga, Khanyisa Mayo and Langelihle Phili also currently sidelined.

The injuries come at a challenging stage of the season for Amakhosi. Chiefs currently sit fourth in the Betway Premiership after recording three wins and four draws.

Despite dropping points in recent matches, Fernando Da Cruz has overseen a relatively solid start to his tenure. The French coach has lost just once in his first eight matches across all competitions.

With the FIFA international break providing some time to assess the squad, Da Cruz will hope to have several of his injured players back as Kaizer Chiefs continue their pursuit of silverware this season.

Kaizer Chiefs welcomes Cross

Against Golden Arrows, Bradley Cross was available for selection having missed action this season. Da Cruz will hope the FIFA break will give his injured players time to recover and return to action mid October.
