Rajinikanth crosses 1500 crore worldwide with post-COVID releases
The post-COVID run has been a mixed bag for the superstar. Out of four releases, only two minted massive numbers, while the other two underperformed a big time. Annaatthe was Rajini’s first release in the post-COVID era, which grossed 173.69 crore. It was followed by a mega blockbuster, Jailer, which grossed 609.29 crore. Vettaiyan raked in below-par numbers, grossing 255.33 crore. His last release, Coolie, grossed a whopping 516.81 crore.
Combining collections of four releases, Rajinikanth’s grand post-COVID total is 1555.12 crore gross at the worldwide box office. Yes, he has already crossed the 1500 crore milestone and hopes to reach the 2000 crore mark with Jailer 2.

If a comparison is made between Vijay and Rajinikanth, the latter is lagging by 354.83 crore, which is a big number for sure but very much achievable.
Jailer 2 is likely to score 120 crore+ worldwide on the opening day, and even with decent word-of-mouth, it will gross over 400 crore. So, scoring 354.84 crore isn’t tough unless the film receives negative audience feedback. However, the chances of the film failing completely are low, and Rajinikanth is most likely to dethrone Thalapathy Vijay as Kollywood’s top-grossing star post-COVID.
