'MobLand's Harrigan Family Tree From Guy Ritchie's Latest Gangster Series
Guy Ritchie’s MobLand is back for a Season 2, and the Harrigans are as messy as ever. The series follows the Irish crime family in modern-day London as they try not only to grow their criminal empire, but also survive the power grabs and infighting that seems to inevitably come hand-in-hand with being a successful mafia-style family. The family is led Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve Harrigan (Helen Mirren), while the rest of the family all have varying roles within the business.
But after the events of Season 1, the family is turning against each other, with each of the Harrigan children vying for power; it's only a matter of time before the once-powerful Harrigans shatter. On top of that, with Eddie (Anson Boon) and Gina (Teddie Allen) getting more serious, the intermingling between the Da Souzas and the Harrigans only adds a further level of complication to the family and more headaches for Harry (Tom Hardy) to unravel.
Conrad Harrigan
Conrad is the mastermind behind the Harrigan enterprise, who mostly steers the ship that navigates London's criminal underbelly. Most of the time, Conrad presents himself as thoughtful and strategic, which has led to his vast success in maintaining the stranglehold the family has on the drug and gun business, but at times, he has fits of unpredictability, leading to outbursts of rage and violence. While the family looks to Conrad's leadership, he often looks to his wife Maeve for guidance on pressing matters, exposing a sliver of self-doubt that his wife could be using to her advantage.
Maeve Harrigan
While Conrad obviously sits at the head of the table, his wife Maeve has a major say in the goings-on of anything involved in the Harrigan business. It's also obvious that Maeve has her own game of chess, which she orchestrates behind closed doors with Eddie, cementing that she is a force to be reckoned with. A chaotic character, Maeve is as big a player as Conrad in the family, but far more unpredictable. After all, Maeve was the mastermind behind the gang war in Season 1, who's to say she won't lead the family into more trouble in Season 2?
Harry Da Souza
While not blood-related, Harry Da Souza is the Harrigan family’s fixer, meaning he is the man who does all the dirty work for the family — including covering up murders, crimes, keeping rival mobs at bay, and, of course, assassinating anyone who poses a threat to the Harrigan legacy. He is an integral piece of the day-to-day workings of their criminal empire and serves as the central figure of Mobland. Harry is ruthless, but also calm and collected. He always knows the right thing to say and the right people to go to, which means Harry knows exactly when somebody needs to be taken care of permanently. Harry is Conrad's right-hand man, though Maeve no longer trusts him. His connection to the Harrigans has been detrimental to his own personal life, leading to a separation from his wife, Jan Da Souza (Joanne Froggatt), and estrangement from his daughter, Gina.
Brendan Harrigan
Brendan (Daniel Betts) was the oldest son of Conrad and Maeve, but he was not actively involved with the family business. While Brendan attempted to follow in his father's footsteps, his multiple failures essentially meant Conrad wrote him off. Unfortunately, his attempts at expanding the business ultimately led to him and his half-sister Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) being captured in Antwerp. With the Mexican cartel threatening their lives, Harry was forced to make a deal with Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) to get them home safely. Sadly, he arrives too late, and Brendan is executed on live stream to the Harrigans back home, and only Seraphina is left alive.
Kevin Harrigan
Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) is Conrad and Maeve’s second son (and only living one). Unlike his older brother, Kevin is a big part of the criminal operation his family oversees, but his approach is not nearly as bloodthirsty as his parents'. He's closest with Harry, who he met when they were incarcerated, and aims to take over his father's business. Married to Bella Harrigan (Lara Pulver), the two have a son named Eddie, or that's what we thought until MobLand delivered another twist in Season 1.
Bella Harrigan
Bella Harrigan comes from a family with strong political influence, but was raised in an abusive home where her father raped her. Later in her life, she met Conrad Harrigan and began an affair with him until Maeve discovered it. Conrad then introduced Bella to Kevin, and the two got married. The twist of Season 1 revealed that although Conrad and Bella's affair might have been over, the result was Eddie, who is actually Conrad's son and Kevin's half-brother. With her marriage to Kevin strained and Eddie's parentage revealed, Bella remains a wild card in the family, though one who is still protected by both Conrad and Kevin.
Eddie Harrigan
While initially it seemed like Eddie Harrigan was simply the wayward son of Kevin and Bella, we learn quickly that his killing of Tommy Stevenson (Felix Edwards) was orchestrated by Maeve. After learning that Conrad is his father and Kevin is biologically his half-brother, Eddie becomes completely estranged from his parents. Although he is still being groomed by Maeve to be the heir apparent, he's also struck out on his own, running deals with Gina against YouTubers to extort them for money.
Seraphina Harrigan
Seraphina is Conrad’s illegitimate daughter, born from an affair Conrad had with a dancer. Maeve has an obvious disdain towards Seraphina and has no problem showing it in a very public manner, often referring to her as a mistake. Unfortunately for Maeve, Seraphina is clearly Conrad's favorite child as he is the most open about showing his love and appreciation for her. While Seraphina also works in the family business, her experience in Antwerp has left her shaken. Season 2 seems to suggest that she is now also coming for her father's crown as she sits down to have dealings with Kat McAllister.
Gina Da Souza
While Gina is not part of the Harrigan family (yet), her new relationship with Eddie effectively brings her into the inner circle of this family circus. Harry might not want his daughter involved in the Harrigans' business, but her estrangement from him and her mother means that she's getting deeply entangled with Eddie whether he likes it or not. While Maeve used to be the biggest influence in his life, it seems that Eddie's relationship with Gina is becoming more than just a fling. It helps that Gina also has a natural talent for the business, and with Eddie's loyalties split, does this put Gina at risk of Maeve's wrath? Time will tell.
