India’s Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru won a bronze medal in men’s individual compound archery at the Asian Games 2026, taking place at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square on Thursday.
The 20-year-old beat Vietnam’s Cong Duc Dang 149-144 after four Ends to seal India’s first individual medal in compound archery at the ongoing Games.
This was the second medal of the continental tournament for Ganesh, who was part of the men’s team that struck gold on Wednesday.
He failed to hit the 10 ring only once in the entire match and just fell short of equalling the Asian Record held by compatriot Ojas Deotale.
Ganesh hails from Naidupeta, a municipal town in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh. He competed at the World Youth Championships in Ireland in 2023 and bagged a silver in the men’s U-18 team event.
In 2024, he became the Junior Asian Champion and also made it to the senior team for the first time. Last year, he grabbed the crown of Junior World Champion in Canada.
