Johor police sweep Mid Valley Southkey after email bomb scare, declare premises safe

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 14 — A bomb threat received via email targeting a business premises at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey here last night has been confirmed as a hoax after police inspections found no explosives.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arshad said police received information from the shopping mall’s management at 11.31pm, prompting the deployment of the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) to the scene.

He said the inspection was conducted by the UPB of Johor police contingent headquarters (IPK), assisted by the UPB from the South Johor Bahru district police headquarters (IPD), covering both the interior and exterior of the building.

“Several suspicious objects were discovered and examined by the UPB team, but none contained any explosive materials.

“No bomb threat was detected, and the area has been declared completely safe,” he said in a statement today.

Ab Rahaman added that the police take any threat involving explosives seriously and will take immediate action to ensure public safety.

He also advised the public against speculating or spreading unverified information to avoid confusion. — Bernama
