Ruben Amorim 'eyes Manchester United reunion' as AC Milan target star

Translate

The Frenchman has played a bit-part role at Old Trafford under Michael Carrick, with the current United head coach preferring to field Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire as his go-to centre-back pairing.

Previously, Yoro had been a regular under Carrick’s predecessor Ruben Amorim, who now manages Milan.

Amorim was sacked by United in January after an explosive final press conference in the wake of a 1-1 draw at Leeds United, where he insisted that he was the “manager” of the club, rather than the head coach.

Now, Calciomercato claims that the Portuguese wants a reunion with Yoro, the 20-year-old, at the San Siro.

He played 53 of his 74 appearances for United under Amorim, and so far this term, he has been utilised both at the heart of defence and as a makeshift right-back amid the Red Devils’ injury woes.

The French international has been forced to operate at full-back as a result of Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu’s injuries, which has seen natural right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui shifted to left-back.

Yoro played at right-back against Bournemouth, who beat United 3-0 at Old Trafford on a dark day for the club last weekend.

He was at fault for the Cherries’ second goal as the Red Devils capitulated in front of their home support, which turned on the players after Carrick had seemingly waved them goodbye, expecting to be relieved of his duties after eight games without a victory.

It is believed that Amorim is keen on bringing Yoro to Italy, as he looks to plug the gaps left in his defence by the injuries to Mattia Gabbia and Mario Gila.

Yoro is not the only name on Milan’s wishlist, with Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-Jae and Goncalo Inacio, who played under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, also admired.
