The Silk Road International Exhibition Center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan will host the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad to be held from September 15 to 27, 2026.
India is the defending champion in both the Open and Women’s sections of the event after their double win in Budapest in 2024.
In the current edition, USA is the highest seed in the Open section, ahead of India. Koneru Humpy and Co. are seeded top in the Women’s category.
A total of 208 teams in the Open section and 191 teams in the Women’s section will play 11 rounds in a Swiss format.
Soviet Union/Russia is the most successful country in the history of Chess Olympiad, with a combined total of 24 titles.
