SEREMBAN, Oct 26 — A man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering his wife, an officer with the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) quarters on Oct 15.

Mohd Khairudin Safi’ai, 37, nodded to indicate he understood the charge read before Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli.

However, no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Mohd Khairudin is accused of murdering Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, at a house in the KLIA Civil Servants’ Housing Complex in Nilai at about 7 pm on Oct 15.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years and, if the death penalty is not imposed, at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip conducted the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.
