Coronation Street resolves Gary's latest feud - but there's more drama ahead

Translate

Gary Windass has made peace with his cellmate Jonesy in the latest episode of Coronation Street, but his issues are far from over. Gary was recently sentenced to eight months in prison for perverting the course of justice after helping Sarah Platt cover up the killing of Theo Silverton.

Despite Sarah walking free after her trial, Gary is behind bars and has been dealing with a troublesome cellmate and dramatic fights while struggling with being away from home.

Tonight's episode began with Gary calling Maria to hear a friendly voice from back home, but feeling dismayed when she tells him how hard her life has become.

She said she felt publicly humiliated by their situation, forcing Gary to keep quiet about his own problems so he could support her.

Later, Jonesy apologises to Gary, and the pair buried the hatchet, with Gary telling him to forget it as long as he keeps his drug dealing away from their cell.

But is this really the end of their problems? Gary Windass actor Mikey North seemed to hint that their issues are set to continue.

"It's prison, so it's never going to be an easy ride! Jonesy is a great character, and Carl Rice plays him brilliantly," he said.

"There's going to be lots coming up with Gary having to protect himself inside, so there's so much going on there. Jonesy is definitely another little Corrie villain who's popped up."

Asked whether Gary will serve his time peacefully, Mikey continued: "Without wanting to give too much away, the amount of hours I've spent in makeup getting injuries put on for the two months that the viewers haven't seen would probably suggest not!

"Gary's surely done the most fight scenes in the history of Coronation Street and he's probably about to add to it in some serious numbers…"

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
