The countdown for Grand Theft Auto 6's launch is underway, and as we enter the home stretch of just about two more months until release, many gamers are making plans for the big day. According to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, numerous Americans are already booking November 19 off of work in anticipation of GTA 6’s launch, and after a recent restock of PlayStation 5 Pros almost immediately sold out, it seems many players already have a preferred platform.
PlayStation 5 has already been an obvious choice for GTA 6 since the game's announcement, not only given Rockstar and Sony's long-standing relationship, but also based on the marketing plans ahead of GTA 6's release. But if it wasn't already clear enough, the recent announcement of the GTA 6-themed DualSense controllers at this month's State of Play makes it official in no uncertain terms: PlayStation 5 is the better console for GTA 6.
According to the announcement post on PlayStation's blog for the GTA 6 DualSense controllers, Sony is releasing two limited-edition designs alongside the game on November 19: a Black Limited Edition inspired by Vice City's nightlife and a White Limited Edition evoking its beaches, pastel skies, and daytime aesthetic. Both feature a shimmering, color-shifting finish, molded palm-tree detailing, and official Grand Theft Auto 6 branding.
The controllers will retail for $84.99, with pre-orders available now. The white version will be sold through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, while the black model will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct in supported regions, with select retailers handling it elsewhere.

More importantly, however, the announcement again highlights how Sony and Rockstar are positioning the PS5 as the preferred console of choice ahead of launch. In GTA 6, the DualSense's haptic feedback will respond dynamically to in-game action, while the adaptive triggers will provide changing resistance intended to make Jason and Lucia's adventures feel more tactile. The controller's built-in speaker will also produce sounds during certain interactions, supplemented by haptic effects.
These aren't the only PS5-specific features being emphasized, either. Sony posted another blog recently that pointed directly to its close partnership with Rockstar Games, saying the developers are leveraging PlayStation's hardware features to enhance the experience. Tempest 3D AudioTech is being used to create more precise positional audio throughout Vice City and Leonida, while the PS5's high-speed SSD is expected to provide near-instant loading across the game's enormous open world.
Sony has repeatedly gone so far as to call PS5 the "best place to play," making it clear which console is receiving the biggest marketing spotlight ahead of GTA 6's long-awaited launch.
