Djed Spence thanked Inter’s supporters for an “amazing” welcome on his debut, while Benjamin Pavard admitted he was happy to be back at San Siro after Saturday’s 3-0 win over Parma.

With quotes via FcInterNews, Spence spoke to Inter TV after coming off the bench in the 73rd minute to a huge roar from the crowd.

“I’m very happy. The welcome from the fans was truly amazing, and I thank them,” he said. “It was a beautiful feeling. I’m coming back from a small injury, and I thank the fans for welcoming me with such warmth.”

The former Tottenham defender, who arrived in the summer, also looked ahead to a gruelling run of nine games in quick succession: “It will take great consistency, but Chivu is very good at keeping everyone focused and getting the best out of us.”

Pavard, back for a second spell at the club, was the first player into the post-match press conference and was pleased with the clean sheet.

“I’m happy to be back, to play at San Siro in front of these fans. Today we also got the clean sheet. We’ve definitely worked on that aspect. I’m happy with the team, so let’s keep going like this. France is France. We’ll see what comes in the future. I’m happy at Inter and I don’t put any particular pressure on myself. I know Chivu, he has a close relationship with the players. He’s very positive. I’m very happy to be here.”

Thuram and Sucic on Inter win over Parma

Marcus Thuram, named DAZN’s joint MVP alongside Petar Sucic, scored Inter’s third for his fifth goal in as many games against his hometown club. He also addressed his omission from the France squad.

“People were saying we always started by conceding? There will always be talk. We go out on the pitch to do our best and help Inter win. The national team? I wanted to go, but the coach made his choices and I respect them. I stayed at Appiano, worked well with the staff and the other players who stayed behind, and we had a good game today. Mkhitaryan’s overhead kick? A beautiful move. I thought it was a goal.”

Sucic, who opened the scoring by pouncing on a poor pass from Edoardo Corvi, refused to be drawn on reports that he is unhappy with his playing time.

“It was a good game and I’m happy. I always am when I play. The important thing is that we won. They maybe had one chance, so we have to be satisfied with the win. I know what I want to do: help the team, and do it as well as I can. I don’t want to talk about the rumours over my minutes.”
