Remains of 2 Filipino seafarers killed in Strait of Hormuz incident brought home

The remains of two Filipino seafarers who reportedly died following an attack by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz while aboard the M/V SIDR on Sept. 2, 2026 have been repatriated to the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
A report by GMA News' Johmer Apresto said the families of the two seafarers will receive various forms of government assistance.
The repatriation comes after 16 other Filipino seafarers aboard the same vessel returned to the Philippines on Sept. 8.
The DMW is continuing its investigation into the manning agency of the two seafarers after it learned that one of the victims had exercised his “refuse to sail” right after learning that the vessel would pass through the Strait of Hormuz. —LDF, GMA News
