KLUANG, Nov 7 — An elderly man was killed while six others sustained minor injuries in a collision involving a Proton Ertiga multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a Honda Civic at Jalan Ladang Sindora towards Ulu Belitong, Renggam here yesterday afternoon.

Renggam Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Ramli Said said the department received an emergency call at 3.38pm and dispatched six firefighters and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) to the scene.

Firefighters extricated the victims from the MPV, whose driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said in a statement yesterday.

“Three other occupants of the Proton Ertiga, aged between eight and 54, sustained minor injuries, while the Honda Civic driver and two passengers, who were family members, also sustained minor injuries.

“Firefighters provided initial treatment to the injured victims before handing them over to the Health Ministry for further treatment, while the body of the deceased was handed over to the police,” he said.
