Sony Circling ‘Battlefield’ Adaptation From Michael B. Jordan And Christopher McQuarrie

Sony Pictures is in talks to land the rights for a feature adaptation of the popular Electronic Arts video game Battlefield that has Michael B. Jordan attached produce and potentially star and Christopher McQuarrie on board to direct. McQuarrie would also pen the script as well as produce.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Sony had no comment.

Additional producers include Electronic Arts’ Jesse Stern, Emerald Neon’s Carter Swan, Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo and Outlier Society president Elizabeth Raposo.

A long-running first-person shooter franchise, Battlefield launched with Battlefield 1942 in 2002. The games center on multiplayer warfare across land, air and sea, taking place in settings ranging from both world wars to Vietnam and the near future. Over the course of its lifetime, the franchise has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide.
