The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr. Bashir Ahmed Maizare, Secretary of the Kano State Sports Commission.

Maizare, who also doubles as the vice president of the Nigeria Karate Federation, passed away on Thursday.

In a statement released by the NVBF media and publicity committee chairman, Godspower Odedede, the federation’s president, Engineer Musa Nimrod, described the demise as a monumental loss to the nation’s sports fraternity.

The federation noted that Maizare’s immense contributions to sports administration and development in Kano State and across Nigeria will forever be cherished, leaving behind an irreplaceable vacuum among stakeholders.

“Dr. Maizare’s death is a painful loss to the Kano State sports community and the Nigerian sports family,” the statement read.

Extending its sympathies, the NVBF conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Government, the staff of the Sports Commission, the Nigeria Karate Federation, and the bereaved family and friends.

The federation joined the entire sports fraternity in wishing his loved ones and the Kano State sports community the strength and fortitude to bear the heavy loss, while honouring his dedicated service to Nigerian sports.
