Rosmah offers condolences on death of Dr Hasmah, recalls ‘many memories’

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has expressed her condolences over the death of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, the wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who died today at the age of 100.

In a statement on behalf of her family, Rosmah, the wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, said she received the news of Dr Hasmah's passing "with deep sorrow" this morning.

She extended her condolences to the late Dr Hasmah's family and prayed that her soul would be showered with Allah's mercy and placed among the faithful. She also prayed that all of her good deeds would be accepted.

“Al-Fatihah. I have many memories with the late Tun from a time long ago…” Rosmah said without elaborating.

Dr Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur. Her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, confirmed the news.

Dr Hasmah was a medical doctor and the prime minister’s wife during Dr Mahathir's two stints, from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has since announced a state funeral for Dr Hasmah.
