GMA News reporters Bernadette Reyes of television and Ted Cordero of online won in the 37th National Statistics Month Media Awards for excellence in reporting official statistics.

Reyes and Cordero were recognized during the 37th NSM opening ceremony on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) headquarters in Quezon City.

Reyes’ report, “6.8% inflation rate,” which aired on “24 Oras” in June 2026, won the Best Statistical Report in a News Segment category.

This is the third consecutive year Reyes has won the award.

Meanwhile, Cordero’s report “Rice inflation back at positive territory after 14 months amid fuel crisis” received recognition as the Best Statistical Report in Online or Print Media.

This is the third time that Cordero was recognized in the NSM Media Awards’ online category —first in 2022, then in 2023.

Both awards were given for “accurate, timely and significant use of statistics exemplifying wide reach and impact through public service in pursuit of delivering evidence-based reports.”

According to the PSA, the NSM Media Awards honors media practitioners “who have demonstrated excellence in reporting and promoting official statistics.”

Other winners in this year's awards were the following:

  • Best Statistical Infographic - Matthew Miguel Castillo of BusinessWorld
  • Best Statistical Report in a Documentary - Karen de Guzman of ABS-CBN News
  • Outstanding Statistical Media Advocate of the Year - Edson Guido of TV5 Network Inc.

Organized annually, the NSM Media Awards group has been recognizing journalists and media organizations that uphold the responsible use and promotion of official statistics in public information dissemination since 2009. –NB, GMA News
