‘Reacher’ Scores Season 6 Renewal at Prime Video

Season four of Reacher ended 12 days ago, and season five is in production. A sixth season is also on the way.

Prime Video announced Monday that it has renewed Reacher for a sixth season. The pickup continues a string of early renewals for the series, which has consistently been one of the Amazon-owned streamer’s biggest shows. The run of early renewals stretches back to season three, which Prime Video ordered two weeks before the second season debuted in December 2023.

With the renewal, Reacher will also become Prime Video’s second longest-running scripted series behind Bosch (and tied with Invincible, which has also been picked up through a sixth season).

Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels and starring Alan Ritchson, Reacher has had a big audience from day one for Prime Video. Amazon says 66 million people worldwide watched at least some of season four over its first 28 days of release (which encompass seven of the season’s eight episodes). Seasons two, three and four of the series are also the three most watched seasons of a returning series (i.e., not a first season) in Prime Video’s history.

Season five of Reacher is currently filming in Toronto. It’s based on Make Me, the 20th book in Child’s series. There’s no word yet on the source material for season six — though if Ritchson had his way, it might be Die Trying, the second Jack Reacher novel. “My favorite book,” he replied to a question about it on Threads last week. “Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”

Paramount TV Studios and Amazon MGM Studios produce Reacher. Santora, Child and Ritchson are executive producers along with Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid oversee the series for Paramount TV Studios.
