EXCLUSIVE: Ted Lasso brother and sister duo Cristo Fernández and Paloma Cinco will host the upcoming annual awards celebration of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, taking place on October 21.

The honorees and their respective award presenters include:

International Creative Achievement Award: Adriana Paz (Emilia Pérez, Animals), presented by Stephanie Sigman, star of Tony Gilroy’s upcoming Behemoth!

Executive Excellence Award: Christina Jokanovich, SVP of Original Programming, STARZ, presented by producer Kathryn Busby

Producer Impact Award: David Hinojosa, producer of Past Lives

Global Impact Award: HBO’s Como Agua Para Chocolate, accepted by José Tamez of Ventanarosa

Creative Visionary Award: Carmen Cuba, casting director of Stranger Things, presented by Warren Zavala, Partner & Talent Agent at WME.

Creative Leadership Award: Javiera Balmaceda, Amazon MGM Studios, presented by Eugenio Derbez.

The NALIP Awards will use Parrot Analytics’ audience behavior data from more than 2 billion people spanning over 100 global markets to examine how talent and storytelling are actually resonating in the marketplace.

“Growing up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, we always dreamed of telling stories that could reach people around the world. Today, as siblings, actors, and filmmakers, it means so much to celebrate the incredible talent and stories coming from our Latino community,” shared Fernández and Cinco in a joint statement.

They added, “We’re truly honored and excited to host this year’s NALIP Awards and hopefully inspire the next generation to keep dreaming big. ¡Porque nuestras historias importan! ¡A seguir echando ganas, mi gente!”

In addition to being actors, the duo is producing partners who launched Espectro MX Films to “create stories that connect people across cultures and borders, with humor, heart, and authenticity,” they noted.

“Especially in the times we’re living in, we believe it’s more important than ever to share our stories, celebrate our cultures, and bring people together,” Fernández and Cinco said.

Derbez, who recently concluded his popular Apple TV series Acapulco after four seasons, also shared his joy in celebrating all the nominees.

“This year’s honorees don’t need anyone to make the case for them,” said Eugenio Derbez. The work has already traveled the world. That is the standard now, and it is only going up from here.”

In addition to the awards ceremony, NALIP will host its annual media summit from October 21-23 with a focus on examining the rise of the Independent Economy: the ecosystem of independent film and TV, global co-productions, entrepreneurial producers, capital, and emerging distribution pathways now setting the industry’s terms.
