Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Metro Police have released 19 people detained in connection with demonstrations held on Wednesday, October 28, a police spokesperson said.

Budi Hermanto, head of the Jakarta Metro Police public relations division, said the individuals were released after investigators completed examinations and assessed each person's involvement and role.

"Before their release, they received guidance on preventing misconduct and were urged to avoid actions that could disrupt public order or endanger public safety," Budi said in Jakarta on Thursday.

All 19 individuals have been returned to their families or legal representatives from the Legal Aid Institute (LBH).

The handovers were formally documented, and the individuals signed statements pledging not to violate the law in the future.

Budi said Jakarta Metro Police continued to prioritize prevention and education as part of a humane policing approach to maintaining public safety and order.

He added that coercive law enforcement measures would be used only as a last resort, based on the facts, evidence and applicable laws.
