TNA wrestler Ricky Sosa is dealing with a severe back injury after a dangerous ladder spot went wrong during a five-way match for a shot at the TNA World Championship. The 21-year-old got hurt when Moose attempted to powerbomb him over the top rope onto a ladder at ringside, but the move missed its mark. Sosa brushed against the ladder before landing back-first on the arena floor. TNA addressed his condition on the October 22, 2026, episode through its Injury Report, and it described the injury as serious. Sosa is now sidelined and will be unable to compete for the foreseeable future.

Ricky Sosa's Ladder Spot Ends With a Serious Back Injury
The scary moment happened in a five-way No. 1 Contender's Ladder Match featuring Elijah, Ricky Sosa, Moose, Jason Hotch and Trey Miguel. The winner would earn a shot at the TNA World Championship at Destination X, but the match took a rough turn for Sosa.
Moose tried to send the young wrestler over the top rope and onto a ladder set up near ringside. The landing did not went as planned. Sosa only touched the ladder for a very short moment before he fell straight on the hard arena floor, taking the impact on his back. Nobody wants to see that kind of fall, not in any match.
The injury was serious enough to keep him away from competition, and TNA's October 22 Injury Report gave an update on his condition. But the report did not give any recovery timeline, so Sosa stays sidelined for an unspecified period.
The 21-year-old was competing in a match with big title implications. Instead, his immediate future in the ring is now on hold after the failed spot.
TNA Injury Report Also Updates Trey Miguel and Jason Hotch
Sosa was not the only wrestler whose status came up after the ladder match. Trey Miguel got time off to recover after a very demanding run of matches. He had competed for nearly 35 minutes in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match at Bound for Glory two weeks earlier, winning that contest and then taking part in the ladder match the following week.
Jason Hotch received a different update. He was cleared to compete on the October 22 broadcast and defended his TNA International Championship against Mustafa Ali in a Two-out-of-Three-Falls match. Hotch won 2-1, finishing the contest with a GTS variation.
Elijah and Moose were also cleared to appear on the show. Elijah got into a backstage brawl with Nic Nemeth before he cut a promo aimed at him. Then Ryan Nemeth stepped in, spoke on his brother's behalf and attacked Elijah.
Moose, meanwhile, seemed to support Avery Styles ahead of Styles' TNA singles debut against Joe Alonzo. Sosa's injury remained the most serious update from the ladder match, and no return date got announced. If you really look at it, that is the part fans will care about most. Stay tuned for more updates.
