Texas to rerelease White On Blonde and embark on 30th anniversary arena tour

Translate

The band Texas will rerelease their album White On Blonde for its 30th anniversary and embark on an arena tour next year.

The album, the group’s fourth, was released in 1997 and became their first record to top the UK charts and was certified as six-times platinum.

White On Blonde will have its anniversary release on February 5 2027 and will feature a new single, Another Way To Cry, which is out now.

Speaking about the release of White On Blonde 30 years ago, lead singer Sharleen Spiteri said: “It didn’t feel risky because no-one at our label gave a shit.

“We were in Glasgow, we made the album in my house and I did all the vocals in the coat cupboard.

“We had nothing to lose, and anyway, I didn’t want to fit in.

“If everybody’s doing something, I’m always running in the opposite direction and that’s always been the attitude – whether it’s walking on stage at Glastonbury, or with White On Blonde.

“It’s always been us saying: We will play our own tune. If you want to jump on, great. If you hate us, fine. But this is what we want to do.”

The band’s arena tour of the UK and Europe will begin with a show in Aberdeen on October 15 next year.

They will also play shows in Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Brighton, London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Texas will be joined by special guests Del Amitri on all UK and Ireland dates.

Asked what the band’s next move will be after the tour, Spiteri said: “It’s to be continued.”

She added: “Don’t worry, we won’t make you hold your breath too long.”

Pre-sale for the tour begins on October 28 at 10am followed by general sale on October 30 at 10am.

Texas formed in Glasgow in 1986 and released their debut album Southside three years later.

They went on hiatus following the release of their album Red Book in 2005 and reunited for The Conversation in 2013.
