Haske emerges Adamawa APM gov candidate

FILE: Abdulrahman Haske, a former 2027 APC governorship aspirant in Adamawa State.

Former All Progressives Congress gubernatorial aspirant in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has resigned his membership of the party and joined the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Subsequently, Haske was formally presented as the APM governorship candidate after announcing his defection on Saturday in Yola, the state capital.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary for Haske, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, and obtained by Sunday PUNCH on Saturday.

According to the statement, Haske said his decision to join the APM was informed by his conviction that the party offered a credible platform to pursue a people-centred development agenda and build what he described as a more prosperous, inclusive and secure Adamawa.

He described his decision as a “convergence of principle and purpose”, saying his political agenda would focus on accountable leadership, economic empowerment, youth inclusion, social development and sustainable growth.

“Today is not merely about joining a political party; it is about strengthening a movement dedicated to the future of Adamawa State.

“Our objective remains clear: to build a state where governance works for the people, where young people have opportunities to succeed, where communities are connected to development, and where public resources are managed transparently for the common good,” he was quoted to have said.

The APM candidate pledged to prioritise agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and accountable governance if elected governor in 2027.

Haske also expressed appreciation to the national and state leadership of the APM for giving him the party’s ticket for the governorship election.

“I accept this mandate with humility and an unwavering determination to justify this confidence through integrity, hard work and dedicated service to the people of Adamawa State,” he said.

The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, said the party backed Haske after consultations with stakeholders, describing him as a politician whose philosophy aligned with its stated commitment to people-centred governance.

“After extensive consultations, we are convinced that Abdulrahman Haske embodies the values and principles for which the Allied Peoples Movement stands.

“His belief in empowering ordinary citizens, promoting inclusive development and building stronger communities aligns perfectly with our progressive vision. We are confident that he possesses the leadership capacity, credibility and energy required to offer Adamawa a compelling alternative in 2027,” he reportedly said.

The Adamawa State Chairman of the APM, Badejo Bello, also described Haske as a bridge-builder with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the state.

Bello said the party was prepared to work with its members and supporters ahead of the 2027 election.

“Haske represents the kind of leadership that resonates with the aspirations of our people. His vision, record of service and commitment to inclusive development are fully aligned with the progressive direction of our party,” he was quoted to have said.
