Sources: Magic's Banchero out multiple weeks with ankle sprain

Translate

Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero sustained a low-grade high ankle sprain and will miss multiple weeks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

This injury diagnosis typically carries a timetable of 4-to-6 weeks.

Banchero was injured in the third quarter of Friday night's 115-93 loss to the Timberwolves. He sat out the fourth quarter and finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

Last season, the Magic outscored opponents by 45 points in the 182 minutes Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Desmond Bane and Wendell Carter Jr. were on the court together. They collectively shot 50.1 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range, while holding opponents to just 46.2 percent overall shooting and 34.5 percent 3-point shooting.

The Magic are 40-26 over the last three regular seasons when the quartet of Banchero, Wagner, Suggs and Carter all play for a 60.6 percent winning percentage.

The last two seasons combined, Banchero missed 46 games, Wagner 70 and Suggs 72, yet the Magic still reached the playoffs both years.
