The senior prosecutor leading the Medicare24 corruption case against Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala and co-accused has resigned from the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
Advocate Santhos Manilall, who holds the position of deputy director of public prosecutions at IDAC, has tendered his resignation and will work his last day on 31 October.
IDAC spokesperson Henry Mamothame confirmed the resignation on Friday, addressing media speculation about Manilall’s departure.
“We can confirm that advocate Manilall has tendered his resignation and his last workday will be on 31 October 2026,” Mamothame said.

He said all cases Manilall was responsible for would be assigned to fully capable prosecutors to ensure continuity.
“[This is] as the IDAC discharges its mandate of investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption,” he said.
The IDAC statement did not provide reasons for Manilall’s resignation.
