Haze worsens with 37 areas recording unhealthy API levels

KUALA LUMPUR: Haze conditions are worsening, with the number of areas recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings rising from 36 to 37 today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Seremban recorded the highest reading at 186, followed by Bukit Rambai and Bandaraya Melaka at 184.

Other affected areas include Nilai (183), Segamat (183), Johan Setia (183), Pasir Gudang (181), Tangkak (181) and Tasek Ipoh (178).

In the Klang Valley, Shah Alam recorded an API reading of 178.

In Kuala Lumpur, Batu Muda recorded 171, while Cheras registered 170. Putrajaya also recorded an API reading of 170.

Other affected areas include Alor Gajah (178), Tanjung Malim (173), Rompin (170), Sungai Petani (157) and Seberang Perai (119).

The API categorises readings of zero to 50 as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and readings above 300 as hazardous.
